MORE THAN JUST A
GYM BUDDY FOR SOME
Out of breath, sweaty and sometimes smelly:
we’re hardly at our most attractive when working
out. But despite the odds, fi tness facilities are
becoming increasingly popular places in which to
fi nd a partner who’s more than just a gym buddy.
In fact, the pastime has become so popular
that there are now online dating websites aimed
specifi cally at those who like to keep fi t.
One of the biggest sites in the UK is
dateactive.co.uk, although there are many
more in the US such as fi tness-singles.com,
fi tnessdates.com and fi tkiss.com. They’re all
aimed at people who are dedicated to staying in
shape, but who may lack passion elsewhere in
their lives. The websites are similar to regular
internet dating sites: users post up a photo and
brief description of themselves, plus details of
vital statistics, how they like to keep fi t, and a
history of fi tness achievements to date.
