New Cleaning Expo To Be Held At NEC In 2015

Western Business Exhibitions (Who host the Health & Safety Event) and Easyfairs (Facilities Management and Maintec), organisers of co- located events taking place at the NEC in Birmingham next week, have announced that their events will be joined by a further co-location in 2015 – a brand new cleaning show entitled Cleaning Expo.

This decision by Fairweather Events, organisers of Cleaning Expo, is a major endorsement for the three other shows and recognises the growing powerbase of facilities, property and estate managers, production and plant managers, maintenance, and health and safety professionals from outside London which they attract.

Martin Scott, Managing Director of Fairweather Events, commented: “We’ve been really impressed by the level of excitement and interest which the NEC shows have generated.

There’s a great buzz building around the way these events are co-located so effectively, right in the heart of the UK. So when the opportunity to run Cleaning Expo alongside the shows in 2015 came up, we were very keen to get involved.”

Alongside Cleaning Expo will be the Healthcare and Hygiene Expo and Street Cleaning Expo; the events will bring together a professional audience from the cleaning sectors, healthcare, local government and support service organisations. The Cleaning Expo fits neatly with the other shows as they share many audiences; according to Tim Else, Events Director at Western Business Exhibitions, organisers of The Health & Safety event, it’s this overlap of interests which makes the combination of shows so powerful. He said: “Four complementary shows under one roof at the NEC will create the central UK hub that health

and safety professionals really want. The addition of cleaning and hygiene to the existing triumvirate of safety, facilities and maintenance suppliers will serve to provide an unsurpassed visiting experience.”

Matt Benyon, Managing Director of easyFairs UK & Global, which organises both Maintec and Facilities Management, agreed: “With the current co-locations, we are already offering visitors to the NEC over 300 exhibitors, thousands of products and over 50 seminars. The addition of Cleaning Expo in 2015 takes the visitor content to a whole new level. Four shows, over three days, in one location – that’s a powerful draw for time-pressed decision makers.”

The first Cleaning Expo will take place at the NEC from 24th-26th March 2015, and will run alongside Facilities Management 2015, Maintec and The Health & Safety Event.

Industry Desires On-Line Learning And Short Courses

Employers need learning and qualification routes that are flexible and accessible, with a preference for web-based modules and shorter courses – that’s the main message to emerge from WAMITAB’s annual customer and stakeholder satisfaction survey.

The principal findings were:

• A significant proportion of respondents would like to see WAMITAB develop online learning (33%), while a further 20% of respondents thought that WAMITAB should develop short courses

• 76% of respondents agreed or strongly agreed that WAMITAB is the brand of choice for all waste qualifications – an increase of 7% on last year

• 71% of respondents agreed or strongly agreed that they would use WAMITAB for qualifications other than waste management

Customers and stakeholders were also asked to rate WAMITAB in

terms of the quality of its customer services, qualifications and website, with overwhelmingly positive responses.

Chris James, CEO of WAMITAB, said: “The desire for more online learning is a trend we have seen developing over the last year or so. It has many benefits for both employers and employees, as it allows learning to take place wherever and whenever it is convenient, enabling learners to tailor their training in terms of fitting in with their personal and professional lives. It also saves money for employers, as there are none of the costs associated with residential courses, such as transport and accommodation.

“Shorter courses enable learning to be broken down into manageable chunks, and offer the chance for a swifter progression in terms of qualifications achieved, which is highly motivating for the learner. It’s gratifying that WAMITAB scored so highly in terms of being the brand of

choice for waste qualifications, but it is also encouraging to see such a significant proportion of respondents indicate that they would use us for other qualifications too. The convergence of the cleaning, FM, recycling and waste management industries is something we have been watching closely, and we are continuing to expand our qualifications offer to cover these complementary sectors, which are increasingly working closer together.

“We value feedback from our customers and stakeholders highly, as it helps us to review our performance and ensure that we continue to provide them with the care and support they have come to expect from us. WAMITAB are committed to working closely with industry sectors to develop the qualifications, skills and competency frameworks that will deliver the results they require.”
