THE BIBLE IS BACK!

76 BIKEBIZ JANUARY In association with

It’s been ten years since you started trading from your Manchester warehouse – what have been the key highlights or milestones for M&J Distributors?

The highlights of our ten year trading have been the expansion and growth of the business despite the difficult economic times. Also watching new independents coming into the cycle trade with fresh ideas and growing their businesses with us.

How has the company changed? We opened in 2004 operating mainly as a cash and carry covering the North West of England, but now, along with the cash and carry, we cover the whole of UK via a next day carrier service.

Many bike businesses seem to have mixed fortunes in 2013, with a poor winter and good summer – how has it been for M&J Distributors? 2013 was a good year and we have seen an increase in new customers coming into the trade dealing with us with more and more of them concentrating their efforts on repairs and servicing side of their businesses.

Which brands have been particularly popular in 2013? We have had a good year with all the brands we stock and have seen an increase in the popularity of the Schwalbe tyre brand.

What benefits and services do you offer bicycle retailers? We pride ourselves with good friendly service and no order is too big or small. We also make major efforts to keep maximum stock levels at all times to fully service our customers.

What are your expectations for business in 2014? We expect 2014 to be a good year again, so expanding our accessories and parts ranges is a must, while keeping in touch with the ever changing market trends.

How can retailers get in touch? Just phone for a chat anytime to speak to one of our team, or visit our website at www.mjdist.co.uk. Also if you’re in the area call in for a

coffee and we will gladly show you around.
