THIRSTY FIREMEN Zip Industries has joined forces with the South

Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Team, installing 14 HydroTaps at seven of their offices.

In keeping with the current trend for multi-functional taps, Zip’s HydroTap provides instant filtered boiling water at the touch of a lever. The tap was fitted at seven different sites throughout the county. Serving up to 300 people, the offices are used as operational fire stations and commercial headquarters, meaning it is vital that the staff have appropriate facilities in the workplace.

Each location has over 30 thirsty firemen sharing a kitchen and all gasping for a refreshing cup of tea or coffee. With this in mind, the decision to install a Zip HydroTap was prompted by a need to improve the functionality of the kitchen. Lee Pilkington, Capital Projects and Facilities Advisor, explained: “Our kitchen areas are frequently used and we need to have appliances which can supply the demand for boiling water. This drove our decision to find a product which provides the staff with boiling water in an instant.

“Additionally, when staff are on duty they don’t know when they will next get called out and often don’t have time to wait for a kettle to boil, therefore the Zip HydroTap was the perfect solution. The staff no longer need to wait for the kettle to boil or re-boil, instead they can have their favourite hot drink in an instant.

“We selected Zip Industries because of their unrivalled

such as water coolers. As a result, businesses can make informed purchasing decisions and meet their own environmental targets.

As companies look to reduce their carbon footprint, it is becoming increasingly difficult to identify ways in which this can be achieved. Companies can make savings through simple solutions such as reducing their transport and

paper usage, and directly through switching off electrical items such as lights and computers. However, if they want to achieve further savings and environmental credentials, it’s up to companies such as PHS Waterlogic to educate them further on how this can be achieved.

reliability and this characteristic has been proven; the product is used every day by most members of staff and I am very impressed it has withstood such a high level. What’s more, within our offices we are always looking at ways to be more energy efficient and the HydroTap allows us to achieve this. With its impressive technology and sleep timer settings it ensures we are reducing our energy consumption every day compared to traditional water boiling methods.”

Nick Taylor, Commercial Sales Director for Zip Heaters, concluded: “We are pleased we have been able to provide the South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue teams with Zip HydroTaps. These individuals work especially hard and providing them with our product will hopefully help the staff to have more time to relax and enjoy the occasional cup of tea or chilled glass of water.

“The installation of the product also fulfils all the company’s environmental needs and allows them to benefit from improved sustainability and water efficiency, which is a key part of the organisations objectives. Just as the Fire and Rescue teams are always on call, so is the Zip HydroTap.”
