APT Takes management information to new levels

A new management information tool that enables car park managers, owners and operators to better manage their facilities has been launched by APT Skidata. A development of the company’s existing suite of standard reports packages, APT-MIS is a web-based software engine that captures, cleans and analyses information not only from the core Skidata product but also from any other source, turning raw data into effective business intelligence. The flexibility of the engine supports interoperability into any business intelligence system.

Sean Dunstan, Managing Director of APT Skidata, commented: “In recent times, the needs of car

park operators have evolved and become more sophisticated. The growing use of season tickets, discount vouchers and other incentives, combined with everyday operational issues such as lost tickets, means that looking at entry/exit data does not always tell the full story, and a greater level of detail is required.

The Business Intelligence reports offered through APT–MIS cover three main areas: an Audit Report that gives a comparison between the local APT Skidata system and MIS engine and applies a ‘confidence

value’ to the data; a Management Report which can be used by the local car park management team; and a High Level Report aimed at the owner or manager to see actions that have been taken or ‘articles’ that have been created within the system that will impact the data. Ctrack launches Driver Behaviour Indicator

Ctrack has launched an in-vehicle device that provides real-time feedback to help improve driving standards and boost fleet performance. The Driver Behaviour Indicator (DBI) alerts the driver of any infringements when on the road to encourage responsible behaviour behind the wheel in order to reduce accidents and achieve cost savings of up to 20%.

Using a series of traffic-light coloured warning lights, the DBI

unit alerts a driver to a range of misdemeanours including harsh acceleration, braking, cornering and bumping, as well as speed violations and excessive engine idling. Green, amber and red lights display a cumulative number of warnings, whilst a sustained period of responsible driving will enable a driver to clear the lights.

Specsavers launch app

A Sight Check app has been launched by Specsavers Corporate Eyecare. Using the latest technology, the free app has been developed to include a series of tests that help employees to take an active interest in their eye health. Should the app recommend a full eye examination at the end of the test, the user can book one directly via the internet.

Designer, Professor David Thomson

of City University London, said: ‘It has been designed to raise awareness of eye health in a current and instantly accessible way. While it can’t replace a comprehensive eye examination, it does provide a reading test, a visual acuity test and a fan test for astigmatism. It then uses computer intelligence to read the results of these tests and then describe user’s vision, risk factors and what action they should take.’

The app also features a unique, slimmed-down version of Ask the Optician, Specsavers existing eye health advice tool. Users can type in a question relating to eye health and then search an extensive database before having their answer delivered in text or video format.
