PACIFIC NORTHWEST

feverishly for the 2011 season. The success we had this year with our annual membership meeting, youth programs and race development has given us the impetus to move ahead.

T

The annual membership meeting will be held in conjunction with the regional championship at the Couer d’Alene Olympic Triathlon. Feedback this year indicated Terry Laughlin as a speaker was well received, and we plan to follow up with another great speaker.

PNW will hold sprint, duathlon and winter regional championship races as well as the Olympic qualifier for Age Group Nationals. Look for special regional awards at these races. Youth and junior programming for 2011 is happening

rapidly. The junior skills camp will be held in Boise following the Boise 70.3 race. Pro triathletes Heather and Trevor Wuertele will be at the camp and working with Douglas Tobin of the Endurance Fitness and Training Center to provide testing and skills training for juniors ages 15-19. Check the PNW blog for qualification standards and the application process. Youth clinics are planned in each of the six states of the PNW. In an effort to help sanction races in areas where they are sparse we are offering sanctioning incentives to race directors. PNW also has stipends for race directors to become USAT certified race directors. This program was successful in 2010, and we plan to continue it to help provide safe and fair racing in the Pacific Northwest. It is the region’s goal to provide meaningful programs to our members and to promote the multisport lifestyle. We love feedback and encourage anyone who would like to volunteer to contact us. Cheers to a great 2011 multisport season.
