The UK Hydrographic Office is the organisation behind the highly successful Admiralty brand, providing comprehensive world coverage of navigational charts, digital products and services to the mariner and international shipping.

This position will see you create and maintain Sailing Directions (books and digital products), which need to be constantly updated. You will be responsible for assessing navigationally significant information, liaising with other departments within the UKHO. You will build relationships with port authorities, harbour masters and other Hydrographic Offices and advise other branches within the operations department in the UKHO. Ultimately, you will need considerable experience in navigation and shipping, pay great attention to detail, exercise sound judgement and write coherently. You will have held a STCW95 Master (Unlimited) Certificate of Competence, or, held the rank of Lieutenant Commander (X) in the Royal Navy.

Salary increments up to £27,740 will be performance related and there are promotion opportunities. This is a Ministry of Defence non-reserved post, for which applicants must be British citizens, citizens of the Irish Republic, a
