Celebrating The Advent of Light: 2015 marks the 75th anniversary of Choctaw Electric. It’s also the 80th birthday of the Rural Electrification Administration (REA). President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Rural Electrification Act in 1935. The momentous event provided the financing that made rural electric cooperatives possible. The men and women who formed rural electric cooperatives brought electricity to rural America, improving lives and radically changing the rural economy. PHOTO/NRECA.
