ighty years ago, rural Oklahoma was in the dark. Farm- ers and ranchers envisioned a better quality of life. The dream came to fruition, but not without hard work, dedication and cooperation. Neighbors united to en-

sure a brighter future. Today, Oklahoma’s electric cooperatives continue to empower new generations through the delivery of safe, affordable and reliable electricity and an unmatched com- mitment to invest in the local communities they serve. As we enjoy the fruits of the labor from visionary pioneers, we realize there are those in other countries who have not been as fortunate. According to the International Energy Agency, 1.2 billion people—or 17 percent of the world population—live with- out electricity.

1.2 billion people — or 17 percent of the world population — live without electricity.

It’s a distant reality for us, but it could not be more real to them. Electric cooperatives stand on the legacy of bringing light where there was none. Oklahoma’s electric cooperatives are proud to partner with NRECA International by sending volun- teers to electrify two remote villages in northern Bolivia this coming August. The Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives has formed a 501(c)3—the Oklahoma Energy Trails Foundation—to accept fi nancial gifts to further this cause. All contributions are tax-deductible and will be used to brighten communities with light.

Help us brighten someone’s life!
