■ currents Board Nixes CEC Storm

Shelter Loan Program After careful study and deliberation, the CEC board of trustees voted to discontinue CEC’s storm shelter loan program.

While the program provided an affordable way for members to purchase and install storm shelters, the board felt the program did not fall within the range of CEC’s original mission—to provide affordable and reliable electricity.

CEC loans on efficient appliances, on the other hand, help members purchase efficient appliances and upgrade their home’s efficiency. Being an energy-related service, the board agreed to continue these loans. For details, visit www.choctawelectric. coop, or call 800-780-6486.

CEC Adopts Stiffer Security Standards for Card Payments

At Choctaw Electric Cooperative (CEC), we take the security of our member’s personal information seriously. CEC is working to keep your credit card data safe by adopting Payment Cardholder Industry (PCI) security standards for the protection of credit card data.

The PCI requirements help companies that process credit card payments prevent credit card fraud through increased data controls. For instance, VeriFone payment terminals installed at CEC cash registers will allow members to swipe their credit card themselves. CEC’s compliance with these requirements ensures your co-op’s continued ability to accept debit and credit card payments securely.

Other payment options by credit card, including SmartHub, IVR automated pay by phone, and payments over the phone, will remain the same.

To register with SmartHub, visit https:// choctawelectric.smarthub.coop or download the free SmartHub app available for Android and IOS devices.

To pay using the IVR automated phone system call our office at 800-780-6486, ext. 105 or call directly toll free at 855-386-9923.
