NEWS ROUND-UPCARGO SHIPMENTS NEWS in BRIEF


SAL carries vessels to UAE SAL Heavy Lift has transported multiple vessels from the port of Genoa, Italy, to Jebel Ali, UAE, on its heavy lift vessel Frauke. The vessels, the heaviest of which weighed 240 tonnes, were loaded using the ship’s own cranes.


ALE lifts Texas topside ALE has placed the second of three modules on top of an offshore topside in Texas, USA, using its AL.SK350 super- heavy lift crane. The module, including the block and tackle lifting system, weighed 2,884.4 tonnes in total and was fitted as part of a trial run before the permanent installation in Israel.


Altius loads STS at Bilbao Grupo Altius has coordinated the loading of a fully erected ship-to-shore (STS) crane at the port of Bilbao, Spain, in cooperation with Marítima Davila and Toro y Betolaza. It took 12 hours to load the 1,280-tonne Kalmar crane, which was 68 m tall and 27 m wide, onto BigLift’s multipurpose vessel, Happy Star. It was brought alongside the ship on SPMTs and lifted aboard using the ship’s own cranes.


Rosyth welcomes MHC A 439-tonne LHM 550 mobile harbour crane from Liebherr arrived at the UK’s port of Rosyth, which is owned by Forth Ports, on Meriaura’s multipurpose vessel Meri. The unit was rolled off the vessel directly onto the quayside.


Red Wolf moves Wild Thing Red Wolf Global (RWG) has moved a 10.2-tonne yacht approximately 2,000 km from Phuket to the Ocean Marina Yacht Club in Pattaya on the Gulf of Siam, Thailand. The yacht, named Wild Thing, measured 11.4 m in length, 2.93 m wide and 3.4 m in height.


Collett hauls transformer Collett & Sons delivered a 170-tonne transformer, using its girder bridge, from the port of Ellesmere to Willenhall substation in the UK. On arrival at the project site, the transformer was discharged from the girder bridge on to SPMTs ahead of final positioning.

Airbus A320 from Ostrava to Liptovský Mikuláš, Slovakia, using a Faymonville CombiMAX trailer. The dismantled aircraft was

loaded on to the trailer at Ostrava airport in Mošnov for onward transportation to a privately run airport in Liptovský Mikuláš. The largest part of the aircraft


– the fuselage – measured 36.5 m x 6 m x 4.7 m and weighed 18.84 tonnes. Once loaded on to


zech Republic-based Pavel Švestka has transported a dismantled


the CombiMAX trailer, the combination measured 43 m in length and had a total weight of 79.7 tonnes.


Pavel Švestka was also


responsible for the delivery of the aircraft’s wings, tailplane and rudder.


Amix handles Vancouver crane shipment


Amix has handled gantry crane components at the Lynnterm terminal in Vancouver, Canada. A total of 28 pieces arrived at


the terminal from China on G2 Ocean’s vessel Merlin Arrow. The heaviest components included pieces for rail-mounted gantry cranes, which measured 83 ft (25.3 m) and weighed 47 tons (42.6 tonnes). Amix mobilised its barge


crane Arctic Turk to offload the components, which were then loaded onto barges for


transportation to the company’s yard in Surrey. For the oversized units that


could not be transported to the final destination in Saskatchewan by rail, Amix coordinated with Loadstar Transportation and Xylan Logistics for the road transport.


Hareket delivers plant to remote Turakurgan


Hareket Heavy Lifting & Transportation has handled the delivery of components for the Turakurgan combined-cycle power plant in Uzbekistan. In total, Hareket transported


7,408 tonnes of cargo, made up of 42 items of equipment including a gas turbine, steam turbine, generator, transformer and a heat recovery steam


generator (HRSG), to the new plant, which is located in Nemengan province, 280 km


east of Uzbekistan’s capital city, Tashkent. The heaviest unit was a 255-tonne transformer.


BigLift carries jack-up from Flushing to Africa


BigLift Shipping has transported a 11,700-tonne jack-up platform from Flushing to West Africa using its heavy transport vessel BigLift Barentsz. The platform, which had an


overall breadth of 75 m and legs measuring 133 m tall, was loaded onto the vessel’s 125 m x


42 m flush deck. As the platform waited in the


water at the port, BigLift Barentsz was partly submerged. Once the vessel had been lined up with the frames of the platform, the vessel was positioned underneath the structure for it be lowered and secured.
