...Chief Istan, owned by Sagamore Racing and Brereton C. Jones, who won his fi rst career stakes race with the $75,000 Challedon Stakes at Laurel Park on Ocotber 1.


Aspen Harcleorde and Scotty earned the High Point Pony Award at the St. Mary’s Riding Club annual horse show on September 25, held during the St. Mary’s County Fair. The award is sponsored by the Fritz and Willenborg families in memory of J.L. McNey and his daughter Betty Guyther, St. Mary’s Riding Club co-founder. Pictured are show chairman Kathy Glockner, junior rider Aspen Harcleorde aboard Scotty and Betty Guyther’s daughters Mary Jo Willenborg and Betsy Fritz.


ECAHS Horse of the Year True Blue Gabriel++/, owned by Bill and Sharon Noonan of Oxford, PA, at the Crabbet Celebration held on September 3 at the Harford County Equestrian Center


Nancy Brew (College Park) and the OTTB Beowulf won the Training Level Test 1 and Test 2 class at the Columbia Horse Center Dressage Show on September 25.

Ella Groner of Highland placed third in the Open Training E division at the Maryland Horse Trials on October 9 riding Grafton.


Grand Mahan, owned by Donald Reuwer, Jr., ridden by Darren Nagle and trained by William Meister, won the $30,000 Genesse Valley Hunt Cup Timber Stakes on October 8 in New York. Nagle and Meister teamed up to win the $15,000 Maiden Timber as well with Battle Aray for Merriefi eld Farm.


Tayler Stewart of Damascus fi nished second in the CIC1* B division at the Plantation Field International, September 15-18 (Unionville, PA) riding Ideal Contini.


Isabella Mosko (Carollton Hounds), Will Frasier (Mt. Carmel Hounds) and Sarah and Jack Leannarda (Carrollton Hounds) at the fi rst Maryland qualifi er for the Junior North American Field Hunter Championships


Sabrina Morris (Frederick) and her own Thoroughbred mare Slim and Trim (Jump Start x Buff Girl) scored an 83.79% at the East Coast USEA Future Event Horse Championships, held October 6 at Loch Moy Farm (Adamstown), to win the 3-Year-Old Fillies class. Slim and Trim was also the overall 3-Year-Old Reserve Champion and won the High Point TIP Award.
