WE GOT IT! WE WON!

July 23 was an exciting one here in Maryland as the U.S. Equestrian Federation announced the approval of Fair Hill as the USEF’s offi cial site to host a future CCI4*. T e USEF CCI4* Task Force worked tireless-

ly towards making a decision narrowing down a list of fi ve applicants to two; Fair Hill (Elkton, MD) and Great Meadow (T e Plains, VA) in January. After several site visits and meeting with organizers from both venues, Fair Hill was selected. T e plans for the Fair Hill redevelopment are extensive, and this event will be the premiere feature at a brand new venue. A state-of-the- art multi-use venue is under development in Elkton, Md., featuring eventing, racing and steeplechase racing. T is is a unilateral eff ort between the Fair Hill Foundation, Maryland Horse Industry Board, Maryland Sports Com- mission and the Cecil County Government. At this point, the USEF presents its bid to

the FEI for the 2019 calendar. Read more in next month’s special International edition of T e Equiery!

Instagram covered it all in August, from drafts to driving. Our most popular photo and post of the month was of the arrival of the fi rst horses at the Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue sanctuary, taken by our very own Katherine Rizzo. To learn more about the sanctuary, pick up a copy of the August issue of T e Equiery. Another hugely popular photo was taken by T e Equiery’s Tracy McKenna at the Country Hill Farm Show on August 12, as the riders in the Large Pleasure Pony Combo class waited for their ribbons. We loved the show bows the girls wore! We also shared a stunning photo (courtesy of the USEF and taken by

Krisztina Horvath) of Beallsville resident Tracey Morgan and her German Riding Pony Fuego 88 competing at the FEI World Driving Champion- ships. Stay tuned to fi nd out how they fi nished in our October interna- tional issue! We also posted videos of the Sunset Hill Farm Derby, the Waredaca August Horse Trials, and a few videos of those adorable ponies at Country Hill Farm.
