Celebrating what’s best in the business

Kuoni is headline sponsor of TTG’s Top 50 initiative –and claims its agent partners have never been more important. Sales director Helen Roberts gives the latest news

ith a new trade sales team in place and record sales through partner stores, it’s an

exciting time for Kuoni’s agent strategy. Sales director Helen Roberts explains more:

WHY WAS KUONI KEEN TO SUPPORT TTG’S TOP 50? We’ve been on a real mission over the past year to put Kuoni back on the radar with travel agents and this is a brilliant opportunity to showcase our brand with some of the UK’s best agents. The event shows how many brilliant businesses are out there and how many innovative ways there are to sell travel. For us, it’s about starting new conversations and presenting the modern Kuoni, with our service values, attention to detail and best-in-class product range. Our trade sales team is growing under the leadership of Brad Bennetts, with Robin Griffiths focusing on the north and I’m delighted that we’ve just appointed a new key account executive for the Midlands, Amy Clarke. Supporting the event is about building trusted relationships, getting out there and working with like-minded agents so we can build business together.

and it’s very clear that demand is there. We went all-out in January with a bold marketing campaign on television which was all about the range of holidays we sell. Many agents know us for the Indian Ocean and that’s what we do brilliantly. But our touring programme has really evolved and we’ve invested in and created a collection of worldwide escorted tours that have some fantastic selling points – these include group sizes no bigger than 18 and guaranteed departures. Our focus is always on working hand-in-hand with agents to find the right holiday for their client. Trade sales have delivered beyond our expectations. Sales through our partner stores were at their highest-

ever level in January. We’ve had a real push on delivering more trade educationals, agent incentives, training sessions and marketing – and we’re seeing all those tactics coming together. While we’ve got some fantastic

longstanding relationships with trade partners, it’s brilliant to see relationships developing with new agents who are working with us for the first time.

WHAT'S NEW OR A TOP TIP FOR 2017? I’m always amazed at how the Maldives keeps innovating; the island resorts there really set the standard in luxury travel and it’s easy to see why it’s the destination that tops our bestsellers list year after year. We’re featuring new resorts this year including Milaidhoo,
