For Tenterden folk, when it comes to booking holidays, only one name comes to mind: Travelux. The agency has served the Kent town for more than 40 years and became part of Baldwins Travel Group in 2013. Travelux’s team spans the generations from agent Bridgit, who has worked at the agency for 27 years, to Emma, who joined just three months ago. Manager Jo Britton tells us of the

the back of shop to host its annual summer party for customers and suppliers. Always happy to go the extra mile, Julie used her own holiday allowance to


travel to Antigua to inspect a hotel shower to check suitability for an elderly client, which helped seal the booking on her return.

organising his own fam trip across he US Midwest last year to advise clients nervous about doing self-drive holidays, and its post-fam team get-togethers at Tricia’s house to share knowledge.

Upon our arrival at Baldwins Travel in Tunbridge Wells, it soon becomes clear that Neil and I aren’t the only ones stopping by. The town’s mayor has popped in to thank staff for their help with his annual toy appeal. The team at this flagship store is managed by Kim Lacey and boasts a wide breadth of experience with specialists in a hatful of destinations to call upon. These include agent Janet Forward’s Caribbean expertise, and Matthew Barton, who has a half- century’s worth of visits to the US under his belt. Helping to drive the agency’s sales is a well-oiled marketing machine; the company’s Travel Collection magazine, a range of advertising in local publications and its #HolidayInspirations Show, which took place for the first time last September, all help to drive business for this agency, which has sold holidays from this very same location since 1895.
