West Side Auto Parts
Offers High-Flying Ideas for Success
BY LYNN NOVELLI
Gus McLeod is no stranger to challenge. This new-to-the- industry recycler holds an amateur aeronautical record and was featured on the Amazing Race reality show, both of which take strategic risk-taking to the max. Now he’s putting that energy into his auto recycling business.

us McLeod earned a perma- nent place in aviation history in 2000 as the first person to fly over the North Pole in an open-cockpit plane, the cap- stone of a fabled aviation career that includes a total of seven world records. Another claim to fame, he appeared on sea- son 6 of the reality tv show The Amazing Race with his daughter. Retired from aviation record-seeking and thrill-seeking, these days McLeod is piloting West Side Auto Parts in Laurel, DE., an ARA member, and Brookville Used Auto Parts in Rockville, MD.
