CASE STUDY

JESSICA HOLLAND inside sales manager I’ve been with G Adventures for four years, and got my foot in the door working for STA Travel. After taking a career break and travelling around India with G Adventures, I finally ‘got it’. That trip changed my life. I started as a GCO (global

connection officer) in our reservations team. This year, I was promoted to inside sales manager where I manage a team of 33. My role is about leadership, focusing on people development, company culture and ensuring sales targets are achieved. Aside from the travel perks

launched or supported 50 projects around the world that are helping to give men, women and children greater access to education, health care and sustainable income that honours their traditional way of life. At G Adventures we are

led by five core values that guide the decisions we make as a company, and as individuals. These are: we love changing people’s lives; lead with service; embrace the bizarre; create happiness and community; and do the right thing. These values form

the basis of G Adventures’ strong company culture and are embodied by all staff globally.

In 2009 we introduced the “Happiness Business Model” for all G Adventures staff. The pillars of this happiness business model are: being connected, having the ability to grow, being part of something greater than yourself and freedom. People are at the heart of what we do, and creating a truly engaged team of people means building a culture that promotes

happiness and freedom, and engages people to a higher purpose, to believe that their work is important and part of something bigger than themselves. We believe having a higher purpose of spreading happiness throughout the company is not only good for morale, it’s great for the bottom line. If you can bring a group of people together to truly believe that their individual well-being revolves around what they can do for others, it is a very powerful thing.

– I have travelled to Canada, the US, Egypt, India, southern Africa, Turkey, Japan and Antarctica with G Adventures – what I love most are the people and the purpose. I love working with like-minded people from all over the world. We all share the same passion and goals, which for me is the perfect recipe for success and job satisfaction.
