GERARD JACQUES director of people As a business that connects different countries and cultures, we pride ourselves on our people and the huge range of skills they bring to deliver our service to customers. We run a wide range of courses and programmes to support and develop existing colleagues, helping them to build a career with us. Beyond this, we are always looking for new talent, and the apprentice programme that we run at our depot has now trained about 100 engineers. We are looking to build on this success with more opportunities across customer service and head office, helping us find new talent for the future.

development workshops and online courses so colleagues can identify and access the tools they need to progress. As a city-centre to

city-centre service, Eurostar engages with the young people in the diverse communities around our stations. Using the passion and commitment of our people, initiatives include using our language skills to support partner primary schools; our tailor- made work experience programme; working with local colleges in engineering and travel and tourism; and

a Homework Club, which provides quiet space to study and tuition in some A-Level subjects. Our train depot runs a successful apprentice programme with a strong retention rate, which shows that colleagues enjoy their time with us and can see opportunities to progress. Forty-two of our current engineers began their careers on the programme. We are looking to provide more opportunities for future talent, so will be broadening this programme to offer apprenticeships in customer

service and head office functions. We also have a new

trainee manager graduate programme, which started in September 2017. During a series of six-month placements over two years, graduates will see first- hand the full spectrum of how we work to deliver exceptional customer service. Working across areas such as customer service, projects, business services and at our train depot they will get involved in real projects to help them immerse themselves in our

business and understand how we work. Look out for opportunities to apply for these programmes on our careers website.
