Travel agent One of the most common roles, agents usually work in a high street or online travel agency selling holidays put together by an operator, or increasingly, one they tailor-make themselves. Most agency staff have sales targets, which might include selling a particular operator. In a small agency, staff can get involved in other areas such as marketing. Within the agency, there are management tiers. Managers look after the sales force within a branch or region. At branch level, they also sell holidays.


Travel managers In-house travel managers or bookers work within companies and manage travel from the client or company side, rather than from the specialist travel management side. This role can vary from a personal assistant who books some travel to a specialist who manages an outside company to oversee the travel of thousands of staff.
