Lubricant and Mineral Oil ABC New publication

For the first time ever the revised ‘Lubricant and Mineral Oil ABC’ is now available in German and English language. The new publication contains around 830 terms and is an ideal reference book for those involved in the lubricant and mineral oil sectors. In addition to a comprehensive content update of the former German reference book for the associated product groups of fuels, lubricants, greases, functional fluids and heating fuels, numerous other technical terms have been added. Due to the increased importance of HSE legislation additional definitions for the areas of chemicals legislation (REACH, CLP, GHS), environmental law, occupational health and safety as well as dangerous goods legislation have been added. In addition, some specific lubricant issues have been included in the book, for example covering food grade lubricants and eco-label definitions.

Numerous references to corresponding DIN / EN / ISO standards as well as references to other terms simplify the search for further information on a topic. Very helpful are also a comprehensive list of abbreviations and a table showing at-a-glance relevant test methods, the corresponding ISO standards as well as cross-references to different national standards. Furthermore, in the English version, the corresponding German designation is given for each listed term.

Authors of the new 190-page reference book edited by

UNITI-Mineralöltechnologie GmbH are Edwin Leber, Dr. Bernd Lindstaedt and Dr. Ralf Michael.

The ‘Lubricant and Mineral Oil ABC’ of UNITI is a valuable guide to those involved in the daily work of our industry sector, especially for people working in development and production, management, sales, purchasing and application engineering. It is published in a handy DIN A5 format and is also an ideal promotional gift; especially because a company imprint / logo can be printed on the cover in the lower third, and it is also possible to use the cover (front and back cover) for a complete company-individual design.

The new reference book can be ordered by completing the order form on the opposite page or via the order form on the UNITI website (see link box). Prices depend on the number of ordered books.

Erweitertes Sicherheitsdatenblatt (eSDB)

Safety data sheet with one or more attached exposure scenarios. According to the REACH Regulation, exposure scenarios are to be compiled upon the registration of a substance if at least 10 tonnes of the substance is produced or imported per year and if the substance is classified as hazardous or fulfils the PBT or vPvB criteria. The relevant exposure scenarios shall be attached by the registrant to the safety data sheet as an annex. Downstream users take into account the relevant exposure scenarios when compiling their own safety data sheet by attaching relevant exposure scenarios to their safety data sheet as an annex or adding relevant information to the
