(01) Ensaf Haidar right presented the 2016 Raif Badawi Award to members of the refugee radio programme “New Voice”, aired by Iraq station Dange Radio. The award recognises the achievements of those working in the area of human rights. (02) Jo Nesbo was the centre of a “global publishing summit” of his own at yesterday’s fair, with the author united with all 51 of his publishers of adult books across the world. (03) Choc Lit’s Lyn Vernham and Tomas Algard, publishing director of Cappelen Damm, raised a glass to celebrate the Norwegian list’s move to publish Choc Lit titles as a mass-market series in 2017. (04) Laurence King was at his eponymous publisher’s stand yesterday, backed by a lavish array of its illustrated titles. The list is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. (05)

Author Ken Follett paid a visit to Pan Macmillan’s stand to reveal the UK cover of forthcoming A Column of Fire. (06) Alma Books’ Alessandro Gallenzi left and Lorenzo Ribaldi of Italian independent publisher La Nuova Frontiera were at the AMP Bar in Frankfurt to toast the vibrancy of the indie publishing scene at a meet-up they initiated, backed by Frankfurt Book Fair, Osservatorio degli Editori Indipendenti, the Independent Publishers Guild and the International Alliance of Independent Publishers. (07) Meanwhile at the Messe, Search Press staffers were industriously promoting their titles to potential buyers, with (08) IPG colleagues from left Tom Holman, Charly Salvesen-Ford, Clare Chaventre and Sonny Leong also plugging their wares to fairgoers.
