VENDING & WATER COOLERS FROM BEAN

TO CUP USING AN APP

Workplace fit-out specialists, Oktra have installed a

TopBrewer app-controlled coffee machine for their new 9,500 square foot workspace, we get the details from Oktra’s Nic Pryke and Scanomat’s Simon Bracken.

Completed in October 2015 and led by Oktra's Design Director, Nic Pryke, the new space on the first floor of 322 High Holborn, London has been designed to reflect the innovative solutions and services Oktra has to offer, as well as providing an engaging workspace for its 150 ‘Oktarians’, across its four sister companies.

The space includes everything you would expect to see in a modern and agile workplace, including an open- plan layout, a large break out area and a number of informal meeting spaces, giving staff the freedom and flexibility to choose where they work depending on their task.

The new office gives the flexibility to work in different ways and embodies an exciting culture shift for Oktra. Many clients are going through similar cultural transitions so it is good to be able to share experiences. As workplace fit-out specialists it was important for Oktra to ‘walk the walk’ when it came to office design. The new space offers a working showroom and includes the products that Oktra highly endorse so that clients can see them in real-life and experience them for themselves before they buy.

One of the endorsed products integrated into the large break-out space is the TopBrewer iPad-controlled coffee machine from Scanomat. The machine is controlled by the free to download TopBrewer app and has a distinctive unique design. Its’ signature swan neck tap fits seamlessly into any environment whilst the fresh bean-to-

cup system provides a gourmet coffee experience for staff and visitors. As well as a comprehensive coffee menu, TopBrewer is a modular system and has the ability to produce chilled still and sparkling water, hot water for tea, hot chocolate and juice, providing a total refreshment solution for the office.

The unique TopBrewer design means that it can be integrated into any counter and because the bulk of the machine is hidden under the surface it is also very quiet compared to more traditional bean-to-cup coffee machines.

TopBrewer have completely reimagined the coffee machine concept to allow designers, like Oktra, to create a central focal point based around the coffee experience. In the workplace, TopBrewer is ideally suited to agile working and break-out spaces as it can be incorporated into a central bar or island to create a social hub, whilst seamlessly complementing modern design.

Offering a selection of premium drinks in the workplace is very important to staff wellbeing and the TopBrewer provides a wide range of fresh, quality drinks from its stylish swan neck, all fully customisable using the free TopBrewer app. Users simply download the app to their phone or use the accompanying iPad to adjust coffee strength, milk foam and size to create their perfect drink.

We know from our workplace consultancy work that coffee features

high on the list of items that office workers rate in their workplace as important. A great coffee offering like the TopBrewer gives a powerful message to our team. It shows we value them – a message that is key to attracting talented people and retaining them.

Oktra have created an incredible space at High Holborn which reflects the quality of their work and acute attention to detail. We look forward to working with the team at Oktra on future workplace projects.
