“The big news here at Knowledge is that we’re preparing for our 100th issue. I set up this magazine
with Rachel Patey in Bristol over 13 years ago as a free fanzine to cover drum & bass in the West
Country, and I never imagined it would last 10 issues never mind 100! We’ve had our ups and downs
over the years of course, but I just want to thank all of our readers – we wouldn’t be here today if it
wasn’t for your continued support. Anyway, to celebrate our 100th issue we’ve launched a poll to find

So what’s in store in issue 98? Well, our cover star Andy C needs no introduction; find out about his
new ‘Nightlife 4’ compilation and what’s in store for his Ram Records label this year. The cover CD is
our first ever from a live club night and it’s an absolute cracker. It’s mixed by Bryan Gee with Skibadee
on mic duties and was recorded live at Movement’s recent 11th birthday party. Perhaps two of the
most interesting features this issue are Nu Rave and Minority Report. The former looks at how the
sound of old skool rave has reinvented itself and the latter gives you an insight into what it’s like to be
a female drum & bass DJ.
Finally, all the talk in drum & bass circles in the last few months has been about Grooverider’s plight.
There have been so many rumours flying around it’s hard to know what to believe, but we’ve got the
latest news on his situation on page 8. Here’s hoping he’ll be back with us soon.
