2018 is the year of women and your strong female branding is something that hasn’t been seen before in the world of cider – how has it been received?...

2018 has been a fantastic year for us. Our branding has been received well and it really has the ‘Alice in Wonderland’ effect; it screams ‘drink me’. We’ve found that women have embraced the empowering branding. If anything, it’s men that have been slightly dubious but once we provide a little background information about Celtic Marches and the strong female force behind it, any initial connotations are lost, and the branding takes back it’s light hearted intentions.

What have Celtic Marches released so far and is there any more in the pipeline to come?...

We offer a range of bottles, bag in boxes, cans and kegs. Our core range of 330mls contains 6 bottles. These were produced more for the export market but have seen a fantastic growth in demand within the UK.

We are looking at potentially releasing a further fruity cider in the 330ml range and also a limited edition 10L bag in box of ‘Terrifying Toffee’ for Halloween.

What’s the most ridiculous idea for a cider recipe you’ve come up with?...

We toyed with the idea of a bacon flavoured ciders. It was a stag party organisers request. Unfortunately, it didn’t taste great! Some things just don’t go together…

Are there any other drinks you’d like to create in the future outside of cider?...

This autumn we’re launching Jacob Marley’s Mulled Wine. It’s a 5.5% light bodied festive tipple. It’s an easy drinking, aromatic delight. We’re so pleased with how it’s turned out and it’s already had a lot of interest. It’s available to pre-order in 20L BIBs and 75cl bottles.

With our sister company, Marches Bottling and Packaging, we have the ability to create and package a wide range of drinks, so I think future developments of the beverage range is a definite possibility.

Finally – tell us some of your favourite venues to visit!

I’d say Beefy Boys in Hereford is a must. Renowned for their burgers, they pair perfectly with our ciders.

Friar Street Kitchen in Worcester, they use local produce as much as possible here. The food is delicious and on a sunny day you can happily eat outside on the cobbled street and sip on our cider.
