December 2017
Break-time bakes for Pudsey On 17 November, Sibford pupils joined many others across the country to do their bit for BBC Children in Need. In the Junior School, Gillett House captain, Summer,
took the lead on fundraising, organising a casuals day and cake sale.
In the Senior School, tutor group 9AW made sure there
were break-time bakes a plenty. Students also paid to come to school wearing something spotty. In total more than £670 was raised. In other charity news, our sale of red and white poppies
for Remembrance Day raised £118.85 for the Royal British Legion and £104.60 for the Peace Pledge Union. Meanwhile the casuals day on the last Friday before the October half term resulted in a mountain of produce being donated to Banbury and Stratford-upon-Avon Foodbanks. So, a big ‘thank you’ to everyone.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
2017 has been a busy year for us here at Sibford School as we have celebrated our 175th anniversary. Since the start of January ... when one of our junior girls dressed up as Sibford’s first pupil, nine-year-old Lucy Endall, right through until our Carol Concert, we have found many opportunities to mark the anniversary. Elsewhere in this Newsletter, you will read about our 175th
anniversary climb of Snowdon. In October, we were delighted to welcome Old Scholars and former staff who joined present pupils and staff at a special celebration event which included tours of the school, an anniversary music meeting, dinner, a concert and the chance to view some rare archive material. And, as you can see from the picture in the masthead above, our pupils even managed to create a human 175 which Nick Hadley captured from the roof! As 2017 draws to a close it remains only to wish you all a Merry
Christmas and all the best for 2018, when we hope you will all continue to live adventurously.
