It’s Time To Bring These Girls Back Home!
And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, “Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.” And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.
Mark 10:13-16 WME Partners & Supporters,
Has it been more than three years? How is that possible? IT SEEMS LIKE JUST YESTERDAY WE RECEIVED THE CALL AT OUR DALLAS HEADQUARTERS THAT OURWME GIRLS’ HOME IN BERHAMPUR, INDIA, HAD BEEN COMPLETELY LEVELED BY A POWERFUL CYCLONE. After the storm had passed, the dormitory, dining hall and meeting rooms were all gone…only the walls of the chapel remained.
Imagine the panic we felt as we considered the more than 100 girls who lived in that Home. Our first thoughts were not of the property that had been destroyed, but of those little ones. Our souls were put to rest when our representatives explained there had been enough warning to move the children to safety before the worst of the storm hit. IF NOT FORGOD'S MERCY AND THE QUICK ACTION OF OUR STAFF, THERE CAN BE NO DOUBT THAT MANY OF THE GIRLS WOULD HAVE BEEN INJURED OR DEAD.

The finishing touches are being placed on our Girls’ Home at Berhampur, India. We are so close!
Even before this disaster, the children in this Home had already faced many physical and spiritual storms. They were brought to us and placed in this Home because some were once orphaned, abandoned or unwanted, while others were a part of families who were too poor to meet even their most basic needs. Once so badly bruised by life, nature’s wrath had now made them homeless.
Pillows for 100 beds Sheets for 100 beds Beds for 100 girls
Shelving (33 units)
Electricity inverters/backup batteries Repair the damaged chapel building
$4,000 total $200 total
$200 total $2,250 total
$960 total $7,800 total
After salvaging what they could, the girls were moved to a secure, temporary facility; and we sent the word out for donors to help us rebuild this WME Home. This was a huge undertaking that began by clearing away what was left and starting all over again. The work was accomplished in stages. One phase would be completed, and then we would raise the necessary funds to begin the next phase. And on a regular basis the children, ranging in age from preschool to teenagers, would come by to watch the progress as well as pray for those who worked at the location and those who gave to rebuild their Home.
WE ARE PLEASED TO REPORT WORKERS ARE COMPLETING THE FINAL STAGES OF CONSTRUCTION ON THEWME GIRLS’ HOME AT BERHAMPUR. SO MUCH TIME HAS GONE BY SINCE THE STORM HIT, BUT NOW IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF MONTHS UNTIL 100 GIRLS WILL BE RETURNING TO A PLACE THEY CAN ONCE MORE CALL HOME.
