ARRESTED FOR ‘TANTRUM’ THE SENTENCING of a Loughor
man who damaged a police van window when he was being arrested was adjourned for a probation report. Michael Evans, of Bwrw Road,
appeared before the court on Thursday (Jan 26) to face one charge of damaging property, to which he pleaded guilty. The court heard that on December
23 at approximately 12.20pm, police received a call informing them that Evans was in breach of his order. They attended an address in Burry Port. When they arrived, Evans’ behaviour was described as ‘agitated’ and he threw himself on the floor and was uncooperative with officers. They led him into the police van,
and he kicked the cage to the window. Evans said in an interview that he had used his right leg to kick the window. He stated that he didn’t know his intention, but lashed out as he didn’t want to go into the van. His defence solicitor, Steven John,
said that the guilty plea was entered at the earliest opportunity. He described Evans’ initial behaviour as ‘effectively a tantrum’. Regarding the damage to the van, Mr John pointed out that the cages were supposed to be secure and the window of the van had just been repaired three days prior to the incident. Evans will next appear before the
court on February 16, and was granted conditional bail until then.
