CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Events and training courses: a guide to activities
The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) sets standards for continuing professional development (CPD), which it defines as ‘a range of learning activities through which health professionals maintain and develop throughout their career to ensure they retain their capacity to practise safely, effectively and legally within their evolving scope of practice’. The IBMS credits a wide range of events, training courses, CPD and local activities and other events of professional or scientific interest, a selection of which is included below. Members are advised to contact organisers for further information on any event that may be of interest. A full list of credited events and training courses may be found on the IBMS website (
www.ibms.org/go/biomedical-science/events/ events-courses?cpd=1).
