Lasting Impressions
By Nicole Tullock
It’s that wonderful time of year when everyone at the office is
preparing for the big annual holiday party. While in the past you
may have splurged to look your best, the economy nowadays has
forced us to become more frugal consumers. Plus, we don’t want
to give the impression that we don’t need a raise by wearing high-
end designer clothes and excessive jewelry that our salary really
doesn’t support. However, this is still your chance to add some
pizzazz to your look, at least for once this year.
After hours, we young professionals look forward to stepping
outside of our work attire and into an outfit more fun and festive –
especially during the holiday season.
For starters, get rid of the typical red and try something new.
For ladies, warm colors such as brown, mustard or olive are
trendy options, which will compliment this season’s must-have
items like oversized sweaters paired with a straight leg pants, a
classic blazer or dark boot-cut denim jeans. To achieve this clas-
sic look without emptying your wallets, consider the top favorite
chic stores such as Forever 21, H&M and Nordstrom Rack.
Now that you have a better focus on what to wear, don’t forget
the most important step–accessorizing. Adding accessories, which
express personal style, can either make or break your overall look.
When wearing winter white, simple jewelry such as gold or silver
hoops, long necklaces and bangles, is all you will need.
Following these quick fab tips will make you the topic of con-
versation well into the New Year.
For guys, it’s all about the clean, classic look. For those who
have the body type to pull it off, a turtleneck can give your outfit
that extra boost – calling attention to your facial features and flat-
tering physique. Fitted v-neck sweaters are must-haves for this
season as well. They can be worn in both professional and casual
settings, with or without a crisp button-up shirt adorned with
ornate cuff links.
For the office party, there’s a variety of shoe options. However,
playing up with brown or navy shoes can be a plus.
These casual fashion options give men the sophisticated look
without the suit and tie. And, they might be just what you need to
upgrade your swag.
As young professionals it’s critical to update your look fre-
quently. And what better time than now? So head out to the malls,
spend wisely, and pick out your new style for the New Year.
