So where do you find pure golf? For many the answer to that question is
Scotland but for a growing tide of golfers it is becoming the North and West
Coast of Ireland.
Playing golf in this region of the world is unlike anything most people ever get to
experience. Natural looking golf courses that skirt the ocean and cling to the land as
if they were intended to always exist provides venues of unimaginable attraction.
Leading this group is North & West Coast Links Golf, who for the last eighteen
years has called themselves the Irish links golf marketing specialists – a claim
hard to argue.
Recently the group added yet another property to their marketing initiative,
Narin & Portnoo Golf Club, a championship links course established nearly 80
years ago. Narin & Portnoo join fellow North & West Coast Links members –
Ardglass, Royal Portrush, Portstewart, Ballyliffin, Portsalon, Rosapenna, Don-
egal, Co. Sligo, Enniscrone, Carne and Connemara in this elite alliance.
Narin & Portnoo Golf Club is located along the Donegal coastline, just 30 miles
from Donegal town. Narin & Portnoo have recently re-developed the course,
under the watchful eye of Eddie Connaughton. It is now a challenging Par 73
with the new holes running to the ocean. The club have also just begun to develop a new

The Award from the IGTOA reflects not just the outstanding course, but also the welcome and
quality of the service that visitors received while playing Enniscrone. The warmth of welcome
is a priority for the management team and golf professionals at Enniscrone.
Previous winners of this category from the North and West Coast Links Golf group are Carne and
Ballyliffin.
Enniscrone are delighted to receive this award at the beginning of the 2008 golfing season
and look forward to welcoming the thousands of visiting golfers from all over the world that will
include Enniscrone in their vacation itinerary. The west and north west of Ireland offers a great
golfing experience, fantastic value for money and championship links golf, and this has been
recognised by the Irish Golf Tour Operators Association.
