Get Balance In Your Game

The most important thing for the beginner lady golfer to learn is balance.
As in all sports involving athletic movement, it is necessary to have
your golf swing balanced throughout the motion, and don’t worry -
you do not have to be an Olympic athlete to obtain good balance.
Good balance starts with a proper setup; your setup plays a big part
in how you carry out your entire golf swing.
I find most women come to me and have too much weight on their
heels. But this is usually caused by bad posture, which is too much
knee flex, slouching of the shoulders to get to the golf ball and then
counterbalancing the weight back on the heels so they do not fall over.
To be balanced during your golf swing you must start with the weight
centred over the balls of your feet.
Here are a few tips to get into a good set up with proper balance: The
width of your stance should be shoulder width apart, flex the knees
just a little; bend forward from the waist which will make your butt stick
out; relax the arms and allow them to hang freely; now place your
hands on the club, if you have done this correctly the weight will be
naturally distributed on the balls of your feet.
Remember balance is a necessity for a consistent, powerful and
accurate golf swing.
tip
Above: A well balnaced golf swing starts with the setup. You must
start with your wegiht centred over the balls of your feet.
Left: Common problems for most women at address includ placing
too much weight on their heels and slouching their shoulders to
reach the golf ball. Both lead to poor swings.
