Swing Killer: Reduced Arc
Notice how the golf club intersects the back of my head in
this picture. By folding my right arm too much I have minimized
the size of my swing arc. I’m likely to hit shorter shots from
this position.

I see this poor right arm position far too often. If you My right arm is in a great position here. It’s in an “L”

Visualize
When it comes to the swinging of your arms just remember to
keep your arc wide and athletic. Your club should flow to the top
of your swing. If you snatch the club in or try to fold or manipulate
your arms into position, you’re doomed before you even start
your down swing. My favourite visual for golfers is the image
of an athlete throwing a ball. His arm is in an “L” position and the
elbow points down (see photo). Next time you’re practicing, hit
a few small shots with just your back arm. It’s a great drill to
teach you the proper motion and feel for your back arm during an
actual golf swing.
