Jeanne Fuller Red Dress Charity
Golf Classic Raises $77,000
Mark Fuller and his team at the Loch March Golf Club hosted the 2nd annual
Jeanne Fuller Red Dress Charity Golf Classic on Monday, September 8th.
The Red Dress reference is tied directly to The Heart Truth campaign,
which was established to raise awareness that heart disease is the #1 killer
of women and this event does its part in helping to disperse the information
generated by this campaign. For more information follow the link:
www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/hearttruth/index.htm.
In its’ first year the tournament was over-sold with 42 foursomes participating
and an extensive waiting list of hopeful women wishing to participate in this
“for women only” event to raise money for the Heart Institute Foundation.
The $77,000 raised at this year’s event included a very special donation
made by Mrs. Fuller and brought the 2-year total to $129,000.
No strangers to supporting the U of O Heart Institute, the Fuller name is
permanently attached to the Institute’s new, state of the art Electrophysiology
Laboratory – The Thomas & Jeanne Fuller Family EP Lab. For the past 15
years, Mark Fuller has also hosted the Fuller-Keon golf fundraiser.
Busy CPGA Professional Danielle Nadon was on hand, not only as a
tournament organizer and participant, but also to treat the women to a clinic
before the event and she also sponsored a putting contest.
Barry Stanton, Director of Development at the Heart Institute praised the
efforts of Christina Moretto and her team of volunteers who took care of all of the
small details related to a tournament of this magnitude. “The Jeanne Fuller Red
Dress Charity Classic is run by women for women and is important in that it
raises awareness of heart disease by engaging another group in women.”
The Ottawa Citizen Team of Danielle Nadon, Janet Hall, Lynne Clark and
Debbie O’Brien finished in first place in the event, but the real winners were
the participants who were treated to a spectacular day at Loch March and the
University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation.
The 2nd annual Jeanne Fuller Red Dress Charity Golf Classic raised an incredible
$77,000 to support research into heart disease. The tournament is run by
women, for women, and is hosted by the Loch March Golf & Country Club.
