Bequia Easter regatta (9th-13th April 2009)
The tiny island of Bequia is part of the Caribbean islands of St
Vincent and the Grenadines, and each year hosts the hugely popular
Bequia Easter Regatta. Since it began 26 years ago the event has
grown into of the region's most popular small island regattas.
As well as taking part in the racing, you can enjoy watching the
action unfold. One of the highlights is the three-race series for 30 or
more locally built double-enders. Huge crowds of enthusiastic
supporters and spectators gather at every available vantage point to
see the boats ranging in size from 12 foot to 28 foot and
demonstrate their legendary skill and seamanship.
