Sports Round up OLDHAM

HOCKEY News Update...

Oldham’s Women’s First XI enjoyed mixed fortunes in December, losing a hard-fought battle 5-2 against Crewe. Unfortunately the score line did not reflect the game with 3 Crewe goals following in quick succession at the start of the second half.

Fortunes turned the following week with Oldham beating Wilmslow 1s 2-1, despite Wilmslow taking an early lead in the first half. Two goals by Louise Howard secured Oldham’s victory.

It was a similar story for Oldham’s 2nd XI. A defeat against Manchester Uni was followed by a 4-0 victory against Manchester Manto. Goals were scored by Lauren Bates, Lorna McGuinness and Jess Perry (2).

The 3rd XI suffered a 1-0 defeat against Didsbury Northern 6ths.

The U15 team played enthusiastically in their first tournament at Timperley with score draws against Bury A and Didsbury Northern and defeats against Timperley and Bowden. Oldham goals were scored by Regan Lord and Millie Fraser. The next tournament for juniors is for Under 11 age group on Sunday 29 January 2017 in which Oldham will be entering both male and female teams.

Oldham are actively recruiting new players, male and female from age 7 upwards. If you would like any further details please contact Club Captain Amanda Smith at amandalousmith@sky.com or club Secretary Laurie Boon at info@oldhamhockey.org
