he Old Testament contains numer- ous promises about Jesus Christ that were fulfilled in the New Testament.

When God created humanity, He made them according to His image and likeness. Adam and Eve were created perfectly, and placed in a perfect environment. Yet Satan tempted them to sin, and they gave into temptation. The race that was created per- fectly would now have to be judged.

From the beginning, Satan has attempted to destroy the chosen line of the Messiah. If the chosen line were destroyed, then God’s plan would be thwarted. God promised to judge Satan through the promised Messiah.

Genesis 3:15 says “And I will put enmity between you and the

woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel”.

Satan has persisted in this effort from the very beginning. Cain, the first born of Adam and Eve, killed his brother Abel. When Abel was killed, another son was born to Adam and Eve, his name was Seth. He was in the prom- ised line of the Deliverer.

Throughout history, the serpent has contin- ued his attempt with no success to destroy the promised line.

Sin continued to have its way. Satan at- tempted to corrupt the human race to the point where God would destroy everything that He had made. It almost came to that. We see that in

Genesis 6:5-7

“Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only

evil continually. And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. So the Lord said, ‘I will destroy man whom I have created from the

face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.’”

Noah found grace in the sight of God, so God selected Noah and destroyed the whole earth by water. God blessed Noah and made them multiply on earth.

God promised that the descendants of Abraham would exist forever. From Genesis 12:1-3 we see that God blessed Abraham and his seed. It is for this reason that Satan has paid special attention to Abraham’s de- scendants Israel.

Esther 3:12-14 show Satan’s attempt to de- stroy the whole world. A decree went out to destroy all Jews. God intervened and saved the nation through Esther the Queen.
