so well supported by local, regional and national companies and the enthusiasm of the teams and individuals who entre, make this a truly successful community event” Roger went on to add. This year Plymouth Herald and Bond Dickinson were the principal sponsors, in addition to Bovey Castle, Tony Pryce Sports, Plymouth City Centre Company, Plymouth Golf Academy, Henderson Web Design, Barclays Bank, Plymouth City Bus, Kite Vision, Tesco, Princess Yachts and Bailey Partnership.

Entries of all ages take part in the event and it’s a great warm up to Christmas. Jeremiah’s Journey is a small local charity that works with children, young people and their families where a parent or career has a terminal illness, or someone special to them has died. Dame Hannah’s have been working with children and adults with a range of disabilities for almost 250 years.

Both of these causes are particularly poignant at Christmas time and it was an issue which Roger did not overlook when he reviewed the Sunday papers and promoted the Santa Fun Run on Radio Devon before the event. “The support of our local community to raise funds for important causes is emulated in the national press around the world but it’s heartening to be part of Saltram Rotary Club’s success in raising funds on a local level”.

Appledore Lettings Christmas Shoe Box Appeal

NOW IN their third successful year of their Children’s Shoe Box Appeal, Appledore Lettings are again asking for the help of the local community and business owners for their generous support in their appeal. We are asking for children’s shoe box donations to help local children who need support this Christmas. This year we are donating the boxes to Corner Stone, Dartmouth Community Chest who are a local community group that helps people with a variety of resources and advice on accessing local services. They will have a toy bank at Christmas as well as providing a meal on Christmas day.

If you would like to participate, you can fill a shoebox with toys up to the value of £20. The toys should be age appropriate: newborn to two, two to five, five to eight and eight to twelve.

Shoeboxes can be dropped off at Appledore Lettings, 78 Fore Street, Kingsbridge, before December 16th.

Lets make it another successful year and put a few more smiles on Children’s faces again this year.
