2016 Historic McCormick Centennial Holiday Events
December will be busy with many fun-filled activities. Please note that there have been a few time & date updates as they relate to December activities. Please double check your calendars and plan to attend as many events as possible. Watch out for more updates and details on the Chamber Community Calendar, Chamber newsletter, and the McCormick Messenger.
Dec. 1 - Please plan on attending our Community Christmas Gathering Honoring Our Volunteers at the Dorn Mill Complex (206 N Main St.) from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm. Gather to thank our volunteers for a job well done this past year. There will be cookies and hot chocolate for all to enjoy. All we ask is that you bring a batch of your favorite cookies to share.
Dec. 1 & Dec. 4 - McCormick County Community Chorus will hold their Christmas Concert on Dec. 1 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Savannah Lakes Recreation Center, 385 Country Club Drive, McCormick. If you are unable to attend this night, they will also perform on Dec. 4 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Tickets are $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for children and can be purchased from any Chorus member or at the SLV Recreation Center desk. For more information contact Jeanne Thornburg at 864-391-5052.
Dec. 2 & Dec. 3 - Festival of Trees plus Crafty Ladies Bazaar at the Historic Dorn Mill Complex (206 N. Main St.). On Dec. 2 doors will open from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and again from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. On Dec. 3 doors will be open from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Come enjoy the Holiday trees decorated by area organizations. Bring your Christmas list, and shop the Crafty Ladies’ booths for all those special gifts.
Dec. 2 - Holiday Art Trot from 5:00 p.m to 8:00 pm. Enjoy art, culture and locally crafted artisan gifts on display at our heritage sites, galleries and partner locations. The MACK will be featuring Marianne Lenti and piano by Matt Miller. The Red Rooster Emporium will featured artist William Updegraff who works primarily in watercolors. Music will be provided by the “Usetobe’s.” Other area merchants and partners will also be open until 8:00 pm. So join in the fun and share with our wonderful town the beginning of the Christmas season.
Dec. 2 - The Historic Downtown McCormick Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held at the MACK park directly behind the MACK building. The ceremony will begin at 5:30 pm.
Dec. 3 - Christmas Community Gathering including Holiday on Main Parade and Photos with Santa. Christmas is not complete without a
parade and photos with Santa. The parade will start at 11:00 am. Photos with Santa will begin after the parade at the MACK (115 S. Main St). A $2.00 donation would be appreciated. Combine these activities with a visit to the Festival of
Trees, Crafty Ladies Exhibit, Garden Club Wreath Sales, and shopping local merchants, and you’ll have a day- long Christmas family celebration.
Please note that if you are participating in the parade, the line-up starts at 10:00 am at the south end of Main St.
Dec.10 - Holiday Tour of Homes Sponsored by the McCormick Garden Club, we welcome you to tour six spectacularly decorated homes in the McCormick area. Homes will be open from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm. In addition, a “Nativities of the World Display” exhibit will be held at the Lutheran Church by the Lake. Tickets are $18.00 and can be purchased from any
Garden Club member and at The McCray Tea Room, The McCormick County Chamber of Commerce, or The Red Rooster Emporium. •
