WGA Closing Luncheon by MARY BUSHMAKER


THE WGA ENDED their season with a closing luncheon at the River Grille. The meeting started with the introduction of current board and committee heads. President Sue Wurtzbacher thanked everyone for a great and successful season, and she looks forward to future growth and excitement for the league in 2017. Sue announced the nominees for


the 2017 board and the membership voted and accepted the new leadership. Bob McIntosh, Director of Golf Operations, announced the winners for the “Most Improved Golfers” during the 2016 season. After the announcement of all the

winners for both the 9 and 18 events, Sue handed over the gavel to the new President for April Meehan.


Thank you to Bob & his golf staff and Chef John & his River Grille staff for all the support they have given the WGA throughout the year. Their help and support made all of the events successful and run smoothly. There is a lot to be said


for great presentation and representation by all at Savannah Lakes Village. There is a lot of truth in the saying “It takes the entire village to make an event a success.” Awards were given for the following events:

6-6-6 Match Play Winner: Han Gargie Best Attendance: Han Gargie Most Birdies: Betty Palone Red-White-Blue: Blue Team won At the beginning of the season all 18 hole players names were put in a basket and teams were drawn. 1st name went to red team, 2nd name to white team and 3rd name to Blue team. Names were continued to be drawn in that order until all names drawn and teams made up. Each team made up equally of both red and silver tee players. Each member of each team played 6 games throughout the season, 3 at Tara and 3 at Monticello. Players earned points each game, points went into team totals and the team with the most points at the end of the season won.
