YOUR RIDE IS HERE

The next generation of the MV-1 from Mobility Ventures is here with a lot more wiggle room and a big helping of safety. The universally-ac- cessible MV-1 vehicle is purpose-built from the ground up for people with disabilities, complete with a built-in side-entry power ramp, ample head room, and seating for up to five which includes the ability to safely accommodate two wheelchair users at a time. It’s as easy to move around inside the MV-1 as it is to enter and exit. With a spacious flat floor there’s plenty of space to maneuver larger power- chairs. And safety is the foundation of virtually every aspect of the MV-1’s design.

IN MEMORY OF JEWEL KATS

The disability community lost a dynamic difference-maker and self-proclaimed “diva” in the passing of children’s book author and dis- ability advocate Jewel Kats (Michelle Meera Katyal) in early 2016. Kats will be remembered for her dedication to creating aware- ness for people with disabilities, especially children. Her obituary captured Kats’s essence: “She was and continues to be an inspiration for all children with disabilities through her countless published children’s books. Although gone too soon, she continues to inspire all beings with her incredible literature. She was full of life, laughter and fun. She touched everyone’s heart one way or another. She will forever be remembered.” Jewel Kats. A Loud and Proud

Diva... her story was featured in a previous edition of Disability Today magazine.
