Hope on Hawthorne Gets a Much Needed Facelift Volunteers Get A Workout

Since April, 210 of Hope’s donors, board members, volunteers, staff, youth and community members have

been very busy giving 2130 hours of their time and strength to give Hope a much needed facelift. Volunteers painted the entire interior with 53 gallons of paint donated by Rick Strube of Paint Florida. 18,000 square feet of sod was donated by Lake Jem Farms for our new play- ing field. Henley Chemicals Inc. provided badly needed nutrients for the soil preparation. Disney VoluntEARS joined youth, Notre Dame AmeriCorps and advisory community members to help pull weeds, spread mulch, cut trees, and lay 10 pallets of sod. They also cleaned the outside of the building.

Looking New

Several weekends were also spent cleaning the inside getting the building ready for furniture, flat screen televi- sions and white boards donated to Hope by Disney and Tom Usler from the Diocese of Orlando. A new freezer, ice maker and 10 yards of mulch were donated by Efrain Rodriguez of Biz Central. And because of the generosity of Fr. Eamon Tobin from Ascension Cath- olic Community, 14 new computers and a server were purchased for Hope’s technology needs! Hope’s next project is preparing the ground and laying pavers donated by Sea Maiden Pools for an outdoor patio.

How many more loads do we have to do? Who’s Moving

The Immigration/Citizenship and Communications teams have set up their offices, graduation services were held and Kids Camp begins on June 27. Academic support services will be moving soon. And if you are wondering, Hope on Park is still full of activities! The noticeable difference is that there is parking space available for our community.

We are grateful to each of you who gave of your time and resources.
