Department of Kinesiology UPDATES FROM LAST YEAR…


Hemodynamic Laboratory: This lab is now fully functioning with blood drawing station, auto rinse plate washer, microplate incubator, iMark microplate reader, hot plate/stirrer, and quick touch analyzer. The research focuses are on understanding blood based markers of health, fitness, and exercise as it translates into practical applications. We utilize diverse approaches in order to analyze proteins, hormones, and cell cultures in order to assist in teaching and research application. The lab (HP 121) was completed in Fall 2015.


Motor Behavior Laboratory: Dr. Amanda Rymal has completed remodeling the Motor Behavior Laboratory (HP 255). New floors were installed, computer work stations are set up, and TV monitors will be mounted on the walls. Each computer consists of Dartfish Pro, a computer analysis software, to asses and analyze movements. New equipment has been purchased to assist in research and interactive class activities specifically related to investigating the use of observation techniques on performance and skill acquisition. Few examples of equipment


include, but not limited to, video cameras, lap tops, portable DVD players, a GoPro, and an IPad. A state of the art eye tracking devise has been purchased.


Fitness Testing: Fitness Testing Internship was started in Spring 2015 in the Kinesiology Department. Some of our Kinesiology students performed several fitness tests that are tied to a varied of Kinesiology classes. The fitness testing does not only give our students the practical experience working with individuals but it also allows students from all majors to see what fitness level that are currently at.
