project focus

• A major new elevated circulation deck at level 2

• An integrated refurbishment of the Weighing Room and Paddock building

• A new Grandstand replacing the A&R stand, Royal box and Tote terrace. The new five and a half storey

Grandstand, with its spectacular cantilevered wing roof, fronts the racecourse. Effectively, it is a multi-sided

The new Princess Royal Stand has a

range of new club and hospitality facilities, including: • Level 0 - Vestey Bar, taking its name from former Cheltenham Chairman Lord Vestey, a major bar, betting hall and seafood bar

• Level 1 - The Big Bucks Champagne Bar and a new Annual Members Bar

• Level 2 - The Cotswold Club and the Owners and Trainers Bar

its success had become a huge challenge, with crowd circulation and outdated facilities creaking under the pressure

building, fully balconied, with unparalleled views to the racecourse and its Cotswold escarpment backdrop on one side, and on the other side the equally important views to the Parade Ring, so much the focus of Cheltenham Racecourse. Capitalising on the levels, a graceful,

curving, floating Crescent Walkway creates a double layer of viewing and circulation to the south end of the Parade Ring, dramatically driving a connecting route into the new Grandstand at high level and continuing on over the new bridge over the newly relocated Horse Walk.

• Level 3 - A series of high quality boxes and a new Royal box

• Level 4 - The Cheltenham Club, being the best in racing hospitality, with its Michelin Star dining and spectacular views

• Not forgetting the new and much needed 180 male and 110 female toilets largely located in level -1 in the base of

the new Grandstand. The massively improved space and

quality of the circulation around the Paddock includes a new Plaza, sporting a relocated bronze of Best Mate, completing the amphitheatre. This in turn leads on to the completely reorganised, permanent infrastructure and layout for the huge, temporary Tented Village, created every year for the racing season. This new layout sits right on the axis of the Parade Ring. Other ancillary facilities forming

important parts of the overall redevelopment include a new First Aid suite, a transformed 'See You Then' Bar, a new hospitality entrance and circulation to the Gold Cup Room, new Garden Terrace, Betting Shop, new Trophy Room and an Al Fresco Tapas and Wine Bar named Quevega's, located under the new floating terraces above. The revitalised Weighing Room has a

roof covered in photovoltaic panels, which drive the system's 16 x 130m deep ground source heat pumps, in turn providing underfloor heating to the Vestey Bar of the Princess Royal Stand. This complex project presented
