District V President-Aaron Audet President Elect-Phil Henry District 5 has been very busy the last few months. Our audition dates for the two festivals are coming up fast. The high school auditions are held at Proctor High School on November 4th and the middle school auditions are held at Otter Valley Union High School on November 9th. Our concert dates will be February 5th, and March 4th. Both festivals are held at the College of St. Joe’s in Rutland. Both concerts include chorus, orchestra, wind ensemble, and jazz band.

We have formed committees to improve audition

rubrics at the middle school and high school levels. All committees worked hard and did a great job coming up with rubrics everyone agreed on. Committees were also formed to look over and change some of the audition repertoire. Not only have we improved our rubrics and audition pieces, communication has been improved as well. We have a website, an email list, and postcards with important dates sent to every school hoping to hit new teachers in the district, that might be out of the loop. My goal is to keep everyone in our district informed and involved with the audition process, and the production of our festivals. We have a very large district, and a lot of hard

working dedicated teachers. We are looking forward to a good successful year-Aaron Audet, President GMMDV District VI President-Nick Pelton President Elect- Greetings from all of the music educators in Vermont’s District VI Connecticut Valley Music Festival Association! Mr. Chlebak has designed a website for all district teachers to use when searching for audition information, handbook policies, directory information, and more. He has also worked closely with Steffen Parker to launch an online adjudication system, which we used for the first time at our fall auditions on Monday, October 5. On behalf of everyone in our district, we thank you, Jim! Our Winter Festival on January 29 through January 30, 2016 will be hosted by Springfield High School.
