I want to start the column by wishing every reader of Netteswell Neighbour a very

Merry Christmas, and a peaceful New Year.

Weekend GP Services I’m passionate about protecting our NHS services. As a

Government we are working towards providing a 7-Day NHS service, which will reduce pressures on emergency services and

A&E departments, as at Princess Alexandra Hospital, so that the services they provide can continue to improve. This autumn the NHS in West Essex was successful in obtaining a grant from the Prime Minister's

Challenge Fund to trial GP appointments on Saturdays and Sundays. The Weekend GP Service allows patients to see a GP, healthcare assistant or nurse for routine GP appointments, health checks and treatments. People with long-term health conditions such as asthma and diabetes can also access these appointments. Appointments are accessed through a patient’s own participating GP surgery and will be provided through a number of local health centres. This service is for routine, booked appointments only and is not a ‘walk-in service’. I met with Debbie Bodhanya, chief executive of Stellar Healthcare ahead of the launch and I am

very pleased that this service has been successfully launched and that patients and staff have started to provide positive feedback.

Jobs and Businesses Coming Back to Harlow For the last few months I have been working hard to bring jobs and businesses back to Harlow.

In September I was delighted to officially declare the access road to the Harlow Enterprise Zone development open as it enters a new stage of development. This is a very important moment for Harlow and I cannot thank everyone who has been involved with the Zone enough as this will positively affect Harlow’s economy, business and job sector. The Enterprise Zone has the potential to generate up to 3,000 jobs in Advanced Engineering, ICT and Life Sciences and will be the biggest single commercial development ever to take place in Harlow. The relocation of Public Health England is also estimated to bring in 10,000 jobs and more

businesses to our town. This investment is worth £350 million and as an MP I am proud that the Conservative Government is putting Harlow at the top of their agenda.

Very best wishes - Robert
