Fireworks and Bonfire

Preparations for this year’s Fireworks and Bonfire began on the Friday morning with the laying of the Bonfire base. On Saturday, Roddy’s team were in full swing. The articulated wagon arrived at 9am with a load of pallets which were to form the bulk of the bonfire. Four by fours pulled trailer

loads of pallets from the lorry to the Faringdon House site and the build began.

Meanwhile, other team members laid walkway boards, cordoned pedestrian areas, coned traffic routes and trimmed the lower branches of trees.

Whilst this was to be our first year without 41 Club input, several of their members generously provided invaluable assistance,

supporting the team on both days. In the evening, Past Rotarian and 41 Club member Derek Belcher was on good form as Master of Ceremonies.

The First Responders provided a reassuring presence. President Lynda presented a £500 donation in recognition of their volunteer support of us and the valuable life-saving support they provide in the community.
