An inspirational achievement

On Wednesday 16th September, Nigel did a sponsored bike ride (on a static bike) in the Rehab Centre Gymnasium. He cycled for 2 hours and 15 minutes; an enormous achievement. His aim: to raise funds towards the purchase of a vehicle to transport stroke patients in wheelchairs on home visits.

With some late donations, Nigel’s final amount raised was £2000 and on Wednesday 18 November, just 2 months after completing his bike ride, Nigel presented his cheque to the president of Witney Rotary club

to add to their vehicle purchase fund. With Nigel’s donation, Witney Club have now managed to achieve the amount needed to buy the vehicle.

Nigel said: “Witney Hospital were brilliant in their care to me when I spent a few weeks there in July and August and this is to help repay their kindness.” “Thank you so much to all those who sponsored me, especially the Faringdon and District Rotary Club.”

Frank Brooks - Honorary Member

It was a delight to welcome Frank to our 18 November meeting to receive his Lifetime Honorary Membership certificate from President Lynda.

Frank was President during 1993 - 1994, the year when the Round Table sleigh was refurbished and became Thomas the Tank Engine. It was a year also when 9 couples from the Rotary Club of Sees-Gace paid us a visit.

During his time in Rotary Frank has devoted his efforts especially to Community Service and for some considerable time organised the 14 Club rotas.

Congratulations Frank: we hope to be welcoming you to more meetings to come and with June to future social events.
