October Notes Inspiration and ideas for the month ahead

Celebrate Apple Day

Britain’s apple orchards are a wonder to behold, but they have been declining in recent years. Help raise awareness of their importance by taking part in conservation charity Common Ground’s community-focused Apple Day celebrations on 21st October. Visit www.commonground. org.uk for details or look out for events near you.

Among the big events this month are the Brogdale National Apple Festival in Kent (17th-18th) and the Bramley Apple Festival in Southwell, Nottinghamshire (24th).

Books that build faith

The Life You Never Expected, by Andrew & Rachel Wilson (IVP ISBN 978 1 78359 352 1)

This is a book about surviving and thriving when something goes horribly wrong. In the Wilson’s case, it was finding out that one and then both of their children had severe autism, but it’s not just a book for families and friends of special needs children. There is wisdom here for anyone struggling with the storms of life.
