In “people news,” there were a few recent changes. In August, shared ownership technology provider, SPI Software, announced the appointment of Ed Klein as Chief Technology Offi cer. Klein has been tasked with managing SPI’s fl agship product Orange along with the development of the newest mobile business intelligence dashboards and browser-based enterprise solutions.

Scottsdale, Arizona based Concord, a large, loan servicing organization, appointed Jon Catlin as chief information offi cer and promoted Shaun O’Neill to executive vice president. Meanwhile, Joy Powers left Concord after a ten-year stint to assume the role of a director at Marriott Vacations Worldwide.

Gildersleeve Partners announced Bill Cordray joined the fi rm to head business development for Custom- ized Solutions LLC, its new merchant services and credit card processing division. “Jeff Sites [a fellow partner at Gildersleeve and one-time Trendwest Resorts co-founder] and I are delighted Bill has joined us in this critical area of our new venture,” says Larry Gildersleeve. “He will be the initial point of contact for companies in the timeshare industry seeking more favorable economics and increased profi tability when accepting credit card transactions. Bill will also provide information on our leading-edge data processing and data security technology.”

Pardon me if we’re behind the times, but in June we learned that Kris Jamtaas has signed on as senior VP of strategic alliances with the Welk Resort Group.

Florida House Bill (HB) 453, modernizing Florida’s timeshare law, recently passed the senate by a vote of 38-0, and was swiftly signed into law by the Gov- ernor. ARDA-ROC (ARDA Resort Owners Coalition) and ARDA supported the amendments, as they benefi t both the timeshare industry and its owners. ARDA-ROC has championed owners’ causes on every regulatory and legislative level —from local to state to Capitol Hill for 25 years. According to ARDA-ROC Chairman Ken McKelvey (who is president of a time- share resort management company, Defender Resorts, Inc.) and ARDA President Howard Nusbaum, the bill was introduced to modernize legislation originally passed in 1983.
