EVERY POST A WINNING POST Titirangi's popular Post Shop/Kiwi Bank operator is to

take over the Glen Eden Post Shop next month. Shri Bhave and his wife Aboli have run the Titirangi Post Shop since 2004 and their

friendliness and

efficiency are widely admired among the community. They will be applying the same principles of customer service at the Glen Eden Post Shop, which will be added to the family business on November 16. “I believe we can develop the

business to better serve the Glen Eden community and I am excited about being part of the rejuvenated shopping centre," says Shri. "As well as the New Zealand Post

and Kiwi Bank services, we will be expanding the range of products to include stationery, cards, gift wraps, books, gifts and souvenirs – as we have in Titirangi. There will also be copying and scanning services, Western Union money transfer, currency exchange, and ID services for passports and the like."

Shri and Aboli Bhave – building on local success.

Shri will take charge at Glen Eden, taking Saravjeet

from the Titirangi staff with him, and will be recruiting three or four new staff members.

David Whitley "There was a rumour going around that the Glen

Eden Post Shop would close but I can assure people that is not the case. They must have thought that it was going the same way as the Kelston outlet, which closed a year ago, leaving local residents to travel to New Lynn or Henderson. I hope we can be of service to these people,” says Shri. "The postal business is constantly evolving and

stamp sales are now only a third of what they were 10 years ago. But parcels and couriers have increased as more things are bought online, and PO Boxes are becoming more popular as they are secure and have daily delivery, as opposed to the alternate day delivery to homes. You have to adapt to changes – we used to have a third of our shop taken up with video and DVD rentals, but when we saw the way that market was heading we moved out of it and devoted the space to stationery."

Shri originally trained as a chemical engineer in his

native India, and then spent many years in the plastic pipe and tank business in India, Bhutan and Singapore, before moving to Auckland in 2001, where he was Production Manager for Baileys Tanks until he went into business for himself in 2004. Shri and Aboli live in New Lynn and have two adult daughters.
